Dr. Mariya Volkhonova (also published as Seredina M.I.) is Deputy Dean for Cooperation with Russian and Foreign Partners at the International Economic Relations Faculty of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, where she has served since 2016. She is affiliated with the university’s International Business Department and holds a PhD in Sociology, awarded in 2013 for research on the formation and interaction of ethnic communities in global megacities, using London, New York, and Moscow as case studies.
She began her academic path at Moscow Pedagogical State University, graduating in 2006 with a qualification as a teacher of Geography and English. Based in Moscow, she is a native Russian speaker with proficient (B2/C1) English and basic (A2) Spanish, alongside strong analytical, problem−solving, and time−management skills.
Over her career, Dr. Volkhonova has built an extensive publication record spanning more than a decade, contributing to textbooks, journal articles, and conference collections on topics including international migration, socio−economic development, national economies, ESG transformation, and global trade. Her scholarship frequently addresses migration patterns, regional economic integration, and social cohesion in urban centers, reflecting a sustained focus on the intersection of sociology and international economic relations.
